Born in Winnipeg and now based in Montreal, Clint Enns is an artist whose work refuses to sit still or behave itself. Having studied mathematics before turning toward cinema, Enns brings a systems-minded curiosity to images that are anything but orderly. His films are eclectic works that resist easy classification, built largely from found material and low-tech processes: mangled analogue film, screen-captured video chats, deconstructed video games, ASCII animations, toy cameras, Super 8, and footage scavenged from the Internet. Errors are invited, not corrected. An antidote to the hyper-clean tyranny of high-definition images and a sideways jab at overly solemn avant-garde.
Algorithms shape the images, but so does a sense of play. The jokes are visual, structural, and occasionally lowbrow. This program offers a dense microcosm of electronic debris and images that aren’t afraid to fail.

Né à Winnipeg et vivant à Montréal, Clint Enns est un artiste dont le travail refuse de rester immobile ou de se conformer aux normes. Fort d’une formation en mathématiques, Enns apporte une curiosité structurelle à ses images qui sont tout sauf ordonnées. Ses films sont des œuvres éclectiques qui résistent à toute classification facile, construites en grande partie à partir de matériel trouvé et de procédés low-tech : films analogiques abîmés, captures d’écran de vidéos de chats, jeux vidéo déconstruits, animations ASCII, appareils photo jouets, Super 8 et séquences récupérées sur Internet. Les erreurs sont invitées, non corrigées. Un antidote à la tyrannie hyperpropre des images haute définition et un coup de poing porté à l’avant-garde trop solennelle.
Les algorithmes façonnent les images, mais le sens du jeu aussi. Les blagues sont visuelles, structurelles et parfois vulgaires. Ce programme offre un microcosme dense de débris électroniques et d’images qui n’ont pas peur d’échouer.
